This post fits perfectly with what we're talking about in The Label's newsletter on Friday. I really appreciate the questions you're asking Sam. Keep up the excellent work! The pieces are coming together.
Great article Sam, would love to expand on the idea of equity on the backend for influencers taking part in your film. Most indie filmmakers today can tell you that they are not making money from their films, or if/when they do, it’s yeaaaaarsssss down the line and the idea of giving up additional equity might be a red line. IMHO the only way this would work would be to circumvent current distribution models and release the film in a different way but this is a conversation that needs to be had and is an interesting take on a new way of doing things.
It would seem that the most meaningful metric of this creator / film maker relationship would be getting email addresses and building ongoing audience relationship. Not just a shout out.

This is such an intriguing idea, and so thoughtfully written. I’m developing a feature right now, so I’m definitely going to explore this!
Hey, I’ve started an account where I collect some out of context captions of great films in cinema history. Just wanted to share it with the cinephiles around here : https://substack.com/@pariscinema?r=1x6h4r&utm_medium=ios&utm_source=profile
