I’m most excited by the last idea of a hybridization of these two concepts. There seems to be something inherently judgmental about the binary. How can we involve and build an audience without sharing every aspect of a vulnerable and sometimes necessary quiet and self reflective path to storytelling? That’s the real juice IMHO.
I don't disagree -- I think as the creator approach evolves, the best storytellers will find ways to share and engage audience without giving away the farm, so to speak.
This is fantastic! perfectly articulated, I couldn't have said it better myself. Excited to share this with others to better understand the nonfiction hotlist. thank you for sharing your experience!!
Paynter take a similar "creator" approach to clothing. From their website:
"We wanted to show the entire creative process, with nothing held back, so we've documented every step of setting up Paynter via our Instagram and email newsletters."

Loved this - and was talking to another filmmaker about how much we should be sharing the process... We'll do some kind of shared posts about it soon!
